Sue Ann Teeney ’94 was a two-sport athlete at Husson University, earning six varsity letters from 1990-1993.

Regarded as one of the best all-round infielders in Husson University softball program history, Teeney hit .369 (120-325) with 122 runs scored, 21 doubles, six triples, two home runs, 90 runs batted in and 50 stolen bases in 105 career games played for hall of fame member Pam Hennessey and coach Shannon Whiting ’86, ‘91G from 1990-1993. Additionally, she showcased great plate discipline, recording 70 career walks and eight strikeouts, while posting a .480 on-base percentage, a .489 slugging percentage and a stolen base percentage of .909.

At the end of her playing days, the two-time National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics All-District 5 honoree was the program’s all-time career leader in at bats (325), runs scored, games played, hits (120), doubles, RBI, total bases (159) and the single-season leader in games played (35 in 1993), at bats (113 in 1993), runs scored (1993 in 1993), hits (44 in 1993) and field percentage (1.000 in 1990).

At the time of her induction, the two-time Maine Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women All-State selection ranked among the program’s top-25 career leaders in games played (11th), at bats (tied for seventh), runs scored (second), hits (fifth), doubles (sixth), triples (tied for ninth), home runs (tied for 16th), RBI (fourth), total bases (seventh), walks (second), times hit by pitch (three, tied for ninth), stolen bases (fifth), stolen base attempts (fifth), chances (424, eighth), putouts (289, eighth), assists (117, 13th),  batting average (seventh), slugging percentage (ninth), on-base percentage (sixth), stolen base percentage (sixth) and fielding percentage (ninth).

Additionally, Teeney was the first student-athlete in program history to record 100 career hits and drive in 90 or more runs in their collegiate career.

The three-time captain helped Husson post a 66-40 record on the diamond - the best senior class record in program history at the time - with three NAIA district 5 championship tournament appearances, including the program’s first-ever postseason win over Vermont State University Lyndon (formally Lyndon State  College) in 1993.

As a pioneer player for the Husson University women’s soccer program, Teeney helped establish the program’s early foundation as a goalkeeper and midfielder for hall of fame member John "JK" Kolasinski '85 and coach Carol Weeks from 1989-1990 and 1993.

Teeney accumulated a 2-24-2 record and 459 saves with three shutouts, a 3.39 goals against average and a .824 save percentage in the goal for the Braves while tallying two goals and an assist for five points off 26 shots in 36 career games played.

At the time of her induction, Teeney was ranked among the program’s all-time top-10 career leaders in saves (third), saves per game (16.39, first), save percent (third), wins (tied for fifth), ties (third), shutouts (fourth) and goalie games played (28, tied for third). Additionally, she held the program’s single-game record for saves with 32 versus Thomas College on September 19, 1990 and the single-season record for saves per game (17.92 in 1989).

In addition, Teeney was the first player in program history to earn a post season award, earning a selection to the 1990 Maine Soccer Coaches Association All-Collegiate Team as a goalkeeper.

Teeney helped Husson win three games during her three seasons on the pitch, including the program's first-ever victory over University of New England in 1989.

Teeney earned a bachelor of science in business administration with an emphasis in management from Husson in 1994.

A native of Unity, Maine, Teeney attended Mount View High School.
