Chris Funk ’99 is regarded as one of the best all round forwards to ever wear a Husson University men’s basketball uniform, playing for hall of fame member Warren Caruso '89, '08G, '18G from 1996-1999.

The two-time National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics All-American helped guide the Braves to two Maine Athletic Conference Championships and NAIA national championship berths in 1997 and 1999 as well as two MAC regular-season titles in 1998 and 1999 and a MAC runner-up finish in 1998. During his varsity career, the Braves posted a record of 80-42 (.672).

Funk finished his career with 1,560 points, 265 assists, 665 rebounds, 116 steals and 90 blocks, while shooting 52.9 percent (611-1156) from the floor, 34.6 percent (83-240) from behind the 3-point arc and 71.4 percent (255-357) from the free throw line in 108 career games. Funk averaged 14.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.8 blocks per game in his career.

At the time of his induction, the two-time MAC all-conference first team selection ranked in the top-25 in Husson men's basketball program history in points (eighth), scoring average (15th), field goals made (10th), field goals attempted (13th), field goal percentage (16th), 3-point field goals made (tied for 22nd), 3-point field goals attempted (18th), free throws made (13th), free throws attempted (tied for 17th), rebounds (16th), rebounding average (tied for 25th), assists (16th), assists average (tied for 15th), blocked shots (fourth), blocked shots average (tied for fourth), steals (16th), steals average (tied for 20th) and games played (tied for 21st).

As a sophomore, Funk hit the game-winning 3-point shoot at the buzzer that helped the Braves earn a 73-73 upset victory over National Collegiate Athletics Association Division I member, the University of Maine, on the Black Bears' home court inside the Harold Alfond Arena.

In addition, Funk was selected to the Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association All-State First Team after averaging 17.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.3 steals, 2.2 assists and 0.9 blocks per game during the 1997-1998 season. He finished the season with 513 points, 215 rebounds, 39 steals, 28 blocks and 66 assists, while shooting 53.4 percent (197-369) from the floor, 31.0 percent (27-87) from the 3-point line and 67.6 percent (92-136) from the free throw line.

Funk earned a bachelor of science in business administration with an emphasis in sports management from Husson in 1999.

A native of Caribou, Maine, Funk attended Caribou High School.
