In the 1930s, the rules required a jump ball after every pointscored. As a 6'4" "jump center," Franklin Beal was a vital part ofthe Team. Since 1947 Beal has owned and operated his ownbusinesses. He was president of Frew W. Beal, Inc., a family-owedfuel oil and appliance business; built and operated Beal's MobileService Station on High St. in Ellsworth; he puchased and operatedBar Harbor Motor Combany in Ellsworth and is now president of Beal& Beal, Inc. a holding company.
