One of the most prolific sluggers in Husson University baseball history, Bill Swift '95 hit .296 (119-402) with 75 runs, 17 doubles, one triple, 16 home runs, 105 RBI, and seven stolen bases, while posting a .364 OBP with a .463 slugging percentage and a .827 OPS during his four-year career from 1992-1995.
Playing for hall of fame member John "JK" Kolasinski '85, the right-handed first baseman helped the Braves post a 73-66 (.525) overall mark, including a 13-6 record in conference play with a Western Maine Athletic Conference title in 1993, two Maine Athletic Conference titles in 1994 and 1995, two National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics District 5 Championships in 1993 and 1995, and two berths into the NAIA national championship tournament.
As a sophomore, Swift batted .333 (28-84) with 13 runs, three doubles, five home runs and 27 RBI to aid the Braves to the program's first district title and national tournament appearance in 21 years. Following that 1993 season, Swift was named to the NAIA all-district 5 team.
Swift tied the program's single-game record for doubles, when he hit three on the road versus the University of Maine at Farmington during his junior season (1994).
The two-time captain posted a .342 (52-152) batting average in his final season wearing a HU uniform (1995) accruing 27 runs, seven doubles, one triple, four home runs and 38 RBI on his way to collecting all-district accolades. Swift became the first player in program history to hit for the cycle, doing so vs. Saint Joseph's College of Maine in the NAIA district 5 championship game.
At the time of his induction, Swift ranked among the program's top-50 career leaders in home runs (fifth), putouts (fifth), chances (sixth), RBI (14th), total bases (25th), sacrifice files (tied for 25th), at bats (tied for 30th), hits (tied for 30th), fielding percentage (.961, 36th), runs (tied for 38th), games played (39th), slugging percentage (tied for 45th), doubles (47th), and walks (42, 50th).
He was the sixth member of the 1995 Baseball Team - that was inducted into the hall of fame in 2015 as a team - to be inducted as an individual, joining Kolasinski, assistant coach Frank Peckham '93, Sandy McCuaig '98, Mark Hreben '96, Troy Martin '95 and Roy Peary '98 as individual members of the Husson University Sports Hall of Fame.
Swift earned a bachelor of science in business administration with an emphasis in sport management from Husson in 1995.
A native of Passaic, New Jersey, Swift attended Brewer (Maine) High School.
