Rich Mazurek '94 was a two-sport athlete at Husson University, earning five varsity letters from 1991-1994. He played one season of golf for hall of fame member Bruce MacGregor, but his true passion was on the Braves’ hardwood where he was a one of the premier interior players in men’s basketball program history. He played forward for hall of fame member Bruce MacGregor from 1991-1994.

On the hardwood, the senior captain helped guide the Braves to one Maine Athletic Conference Championship in 1993-1994 with two National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics National Tournaments berths in 1991-1992 and 1993-1994. During his varsity career, Husson posted a record of 102-32 (.761) with three Western Maine Athletic Conference runner-up finishes in 1990-1991, 1991-1992, and 1992-1993 as well as a NAIA district 5 runner-up finish in 1991-1992.

He also helped the 1991-1992 team win the program’s first-ever national tournament game over nationally ranked University of the Sciences (formally known as Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science). The No. 15 ranked Braves defeated the No. 14 ranked Devils by a score of 82-68 to advance to the program’s first-ever sweet sixteen.

The 1993-1994 Nelson DeGrasse Team Award recipient finished his career with 1,512 points, 202 assists, 534 rebounds and 76 steals, while shooting 40.0 percent (549-1372) from the floor, 41.2 percent (153-371) from behind the 3-point arc and 79.1 percent (261-330) from the free throw line in 134 career games. Mazurek averaged 11.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 0.6 steals per game in his career.

At the time of his induction, the 1993-1994 MAC all-conference second team pick ranked in the top-25 in Husson men's basketball history in points (12th), field goals made (17th), field goals attempted (seventh), 3-point field goals made (eighth), 3-point field goals attempted (eighth), 3-point field goal percentage (third), free throws made (10th), free throw percentage (tied for 10th) and games played (third).

Additionally, Mazurek earned a selection to the MAC all-tournament team in 1993-1994.

In his one year of play on the links, Mazurek helped lead the Braves to a 11-11 (.500) record with runner-up finishes at the 1993-1994 NAIA district 5 championship and the 1993-1994 MAC championship.

Mazurek earned a bachelor of science in business administration with an emphasis in management from Husson in 1994.

A native of Rockland, Maine, Mazurek attended Rockland District High School.
