Dennis Cooper was a three-year letterwinner as a guard/foward on the men’s basketball team from 1979-1981.
He tallied 1,234 points with 465 rebounds, 75 assists, and 51 steals, while shooting .525 (533-1016) from the floor and .694 (168-242) from the charity line in 78 career games played.
At the time of his induction, Cooper ranked among the career leaders in points (22nd), scoring average (17th, 15.8), field goals made (18th, 533), field goals attempted (22nd, 1,016), field goals percentage (22nd), free throws made (t-33rd, 168), free throws attempted (38th, 242), rebounds (38th), and rebounding average (43rd, 6.0).
He posted his best season in a Husson College Braves' uniform in 1980, when he became the seventh different player in program history to score 500 points in a single-season and the first in five seasons. He finished the season with 509 points and 189 rebounds.
Over the course of his Husson career, Cooper accumulated many honors and awards. In 1979, he earned a MMBCWA All-State selection, was named to MMBCWA All-State Rookie Team, and won the Nelson Degrasse and Allan Kenyon Awards. In 1980 he was again named an MMBCWA All-State selection and in 1981 he earned NAIA All-District honors. He served as a team captain in 1980 as well.
During his career, Husson posted a three-year record of 64-14 (.821) and finished as NAIA District V Runner-Up in 1980 to Franklin Pierce.
Cooper earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Financial Management from Husson in 1982 and a Executive Master Business Administration degree from the University of Hartford - Barney School of Business. He is currently the Vice President of PNC Bank. Cooper, who was originally from West Haven, Conn., now resides in Laurel, Md.
