Jason Harvey '07 was a three-sport standout for the Eagles’ baseball (2003, 2005-2006), men’s basketball (2003, 2005-2007) and men’s golf (2006) programs and was one of the most talented and hardworking male student-athletes Husson University Athletics has ever-seen.
The three-time all-conference shortstop finished his baseball career by hitting .378 (145-384) with 145 hits, 109 runs scored, 33 doubles, 12 triples, 11 home runs, 104 RBIs and 24 stolen bases in 107 games played as a three-year starter for hall of fame members John "JK" Kolasinski '85 and John Winkin. Additionally, Harvey showcased great plate discipline, recording 47 career walks and 48 strikeouts, while posting a .456 on-base percentage and a .612 slugging percentage.
At the time of his induction, the two-year captain ranked among the program's top-25 career leaders in runs scored (14th), hits (18th), doubles (tied for sixth), triples (tied for fourth), home runs (tied for 11th), RBIs (13th), total bases (235, 11th), stolen bases (tied for 22nd) and extra-base hits (56, fourth).
Despite only playing in 29 games as a freshman, Harvey was named Sunrise Conference Rookie of Year after hitting 346 (27-78) with 20 runs scored, seven doubles, two home runs, 34 RBIs and 11 stolen bases. He was also selected to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics All-Northeast Region Team.
Two-years after transferring back to Husson from the University of Maine, Havery posted his best season in his final season wearing the green and gold on the Harold Alfond Diamond when hit .444 (79-178) with 79 hits, 53 runs scored, 16 doubles, nine triples, six home runs, 44 RBIs, nine stolen bases He finished the season with a .736 slugging percentage and a .492 on-base percentage while setting the program's single-season records for triples, extra-base hits (32) and total bases (131) at the time.
In basketball, Harvey finished his career with 1, 217 points, 335 assists, 403 rebounds, 179 steals and 16 blocks, while shooting 37.4 percent (373-997) from the floor, 33.0 percent (163-494) from behind the 3-point arc and 83.0 percent (308-371) from the free throw line in 103 career games played as a guard for hall of fame member Warren Caruso '89, '08G, '18G. Harvey averaged 11.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.7 steals per game in his career.
At the time of his induction, the two-year captain ranked among the program's top-25 career leaders in 3-point field goals made (163, eighth), 3-point field goal percentage (15th), free throws made (308, seventh), free throw percentage (third), assists (10th), assists per game (11th), steals (eighth) and steals per game (tied for ninth).
Upon his graduation from Husson, Harvey accumulated numerous accolades throughout his career. He was selected to the Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association All-State Second Team two times. He was selected to the North Atlantic Conference All-Conference Team two times, earning first team honors in 2006-2007. He was named to the NAC all-tournament team twice. Harvey was also named to the MMBCWA all-state rookie team during his career as well as earning the Nelson Degrasse Team Award his senior season and the Allan Kenyon Team award his junior season.
In his one season of playing golf for hall of fame member Bruce MacGregor, Harvey finished the season with an average of 80.98 over 20.5 rounds played and a win-loss record of 404-158 (.719). He won one event and finished in the top-10 in four-of 13 tournaments en route to helping Husson earn their first of eight straight North Atlantic Conference Championships and berths into the National Collegiate Athletics Association Division III National Championships Tournaments.
Harvey posted a combined record of 261-127 (.673) overall record with a 84-15 (.848) mark in conference play. Additionally, Harvey competed in five conference championships with one Sunrise title, one NAIA tournament berth, one NAC title and one NCAA tournament berth while earning two NAC runner-up titles.
Harvey earned a bachelor of science in business administration with an emphasis in sports management from Husson in 2007.
A native of Bucksport, Maine, Harvey attended Bucksport High School.
