Mark Hreben ’96 was one of the best strikeout pitchers in Husson University baseball program history, playing for hall of fame member John "JK" Kolasinski '85 during one of the most dominating eras of Husson University baseball from 1993-1996.

In 43 career appearances on the mound, Hreben posted a 20-5 (.800) record and a 3.63 earned run average in 210.2 innings with two saves, while tallying 252 strikeouts and limiting opponents to a .216 batting average. The two-time National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics All-District 5 choice tossed 12 complete games and two shutouts in 28 career starts.

At the time of his induction - the two-time Maine Athletic Conference All-Conference First Team selection ranked among the program’s top-25 career leaders in wins (second), saves (ninth), appearances (second), games started (eighth), complete games (tied for sixth), shutouts (tied for seventh), innings pitched (third), strikeouts (third), winning percentage (tied for fifth), opponent batting average against (22nd), strikeouts per nine innings (10.77, 10th) and hits allowed per nine innings (7.43, ninth).

His best season in a Braves' uniform came during his final season (1996) when he made 11 appearances with 11 starts and sported a 7-1 record with a 2.93 earned run average and 93 strikeouts in 67.2 innings. Hreben held opponents to a .198 (50-253) batting average, becoming just the 10th pitcher at the time to hold an opponent below a .200 batting average in a single-season since the 1972 season. His 93 punch outs on the season were the third most in a single-season in program history - at the time of his induction -  and the most by a Husson pitcher in a single-season in over 28 years.

Following his historically season, the right-hander became the first Husson hurler ever to be named NAIA district 5 and MAC player of the year and the second pitcher in program history to earn NAIA All-American honorable mention and NAIA all-northeast regional first team honors.

Additionally, the senior captain was one of the 12 pitchers in program history to average 10 or more strikeouts per nine innings in their career - at the time of his induction.

Husson won 79 games over his four-year career, capturing the Western Maine Athletic Conference Championship in 1993, the MAC championship in 1994 and 1995 and two NAIA New England Championships in 1993 and 1995 with three berths into the NAIA national tournament in 1993, 1995 and 1996.

He was the fourth member of the 1995 Baseball Team - that was inducted into the hall of fame in 2015 as a team - to be inducted as an individual, joining Kolasinski, assistant coach Frank Peckham '93, Sandy McCuaig '98, Bill Swift '95, Troy Martin '95 and Roy Peary '98.

Hreben graduated from Husson in 1996.

A native of Norridgewock, Maine, Hreben attended Skowhegan Area High School.
