He was the fifth player to reach the 1,000 point club and the first to score fifteen hundred points in program history.

Giroux tallied 1,510 points and 964 rebounds in 86 career games played, averaging 17.6 points and 11.2 rebounds per game, while shooting 49.1 percent from the floor and 67.4 from the charity line.

At the end of his playing career, Giroux ranked first all-time in career field goals made (633), second in games played, points, field goals attempted (1288), and rebounds, fourth in  field goal percentage, free throws made (244), free throws attempted (362), fifth in scoring average, sixth in rebounding average, and tenth in free throw percentage. He held three single-season records; points (531 in 1969), field goals made (224 in 1969) and games played (25 in 1970), while recording the second most field goals attempts in 1970 with 419.

To this day, Giroux remains ranked among the career leaders in rebounds (4th), field goals made (9th), field goals attempted (9th), rebounding average (11th), scoring average (12th), points (15th), free throws attempted (17th) and free throws made (20th).

The two-time Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association (MMBCWA) selection helped guide the Braves to a 65-24 overall record and their first ever NAIA postseason berth in 1970.

He was inducted into the Husson Sports Hall of Fame in 1987.

A native of Lewiston, Maine, Giroux attended Lewiston High School.
