Three Husson yearbooks mention Margaret H. Gillis and hercontributions to the Women's Basketball Teams from 1937 to 1939.Gillis graduated from Husson in 1939 and she taught for 40 years atSchenck High School in East Millinocket. She died in 1982 justhours before the school was going to honor her by naming it'sgymnasium after her. At Schenck, she started the first cheerleadingteam, a jazz band, physical education for girls, and a girls drillteam.
