Cimbollek three-year letter winner from 1955-57 as a forward on the men’s basketball team and also earned a letter in baseball in 1956.

He is known as the first 1,000 point scorer in Husson men’s basketball history and was considered by his Hall of Fame Head Coach Del Merrill as the pioneer and leader of developing Husson into a winning small college program.

In Basketball - Cimbollek at the end of his playing career, despite only playing in 42 career games, held eight career records;  points (1152), scoring average (27.4), field goals made (402), field goals attempted (746), field goal percentage (.539), free throws made (348), free throws attempted (458), and free throw percentage (.760). He held  six single-season records; points (507 in 1956), scoring average (29.8 in 1956), field goals made (177 in 1955), field goal percentage (.578 in 1956), free throws made (173 in 1956), free throws attempts (220). Cimbollek held five single-game records; points with 47 at home vs. Maine Central Institute on Dec. 14, 1957, field goals made with 15 at home vs. Maine Central Institute on Dec. 14, 1957 and at home vs.  Maine Maritime on Dec. 4, 1957, field goals attempts with 28 at home vs. Maine Central institute on Dec. 14, 1957, free throws made with 17 vs. Aroostook State (UMPI) on Feb. 23, 1957 and at home vs. Maine Central Institute on Dec. 14, 1957, and free throws attempts with 18 at home vs. Farmington State (UMF) on Jan. 16, 1957.

To this day, Cimbollek still holds the single-season record for most free throws made and still ranks among the career all-time leaders in points (32nd), scoring average (2nd),  field goal percentage (20th), free throws made (6th), and free throws attempted (6th).

Cimbollek helped guide the Braves to two Northeast College Conference (NCC) Championships in 1956 and 1957, one State of Maine Small College Championship in 1956 and a runner-up finish in 1957.

Cimbollek was a two-time All-NCC selection and was named the NCC Player of Year in 1956 while serving twice as team captain in 1956 and 1957.

In Baseball - In six career games, Cimbollek batted .353 with 1 homerun, nine RBIs, six hits, five runs scored, and seven walks.

A native of Bangor, Maine, Cimbollek attend Bangor High School.  He is a retired high school basketball coach and former high school and college basketball official who writes a weekly blog/column for the Bangor Daily News.
