Margaret “Peggy” Riitano Genoa was a four-year letterwinner as a center on the Husson women’s basketball team (1986-89) and a four-year letterwinner as a catcher on the Husson softball team (1986-89).
In basketball - Riitano Genoa ranks third all-time in rebounds (934), third in rebounding average (9.5), eighth in field goals made (464), and 11th in points (1,140). In single-season records, she ranked seventh and ninth in rebounds (269 and 263).
Outside of her Husson records, Riitano Genoa played in 98 games while dishing out 146, tailing 67 steals, rejecting 29 total shots, and shooting 44.6% from the floor.
The Conference Rookie of the Year winner in 1986, she was named All-District and All-State in 1989.
In softball - Riitano Genoa ranks third all-time in putouts (482) and tied for fourth in sacrifice flies (7). In single-season records, she ranked tied for first in fielding percentage (1.000) and tied for sixth in most sacrifice flies (3).
Appearing in 68 career games, Riitano Genoa finished with a .275 batting average, 37 RBI, 56 total hits, 27 stolen bases, and 44 runs scored.
A captain for the 1988-89 seasons, Riitano Genoa was named NAIA All-District in the 1988 season.
Margaret “Peggy” Riitano Genoa graduated from Husson College in 1989 with a degree in Business Technical Education - Office Administration.
