Coach Amanda Bourgoin is credited with building the Husson University softball program into a regional power, while amassing 188 wins with five conference championships in her seven years at the helm of the program from 2007-2013.
Bourgoin inherited a program in 2007 that had one winning season in the previous nine seasons, and just two years later, helped the Eagles post the program’s first-ever 30-win season en route to the program’s first North Atlantic Conference Regular Season title. From there, the program won seven-straight NAC regular-season and conference championships in addition to seven consecutive trips to the National Collegiate Athletics Association Division III Championship tournament from 2009-2015 with Bourgoin coaching the first five and being credited with laying the framework for the last two.
She endured just one losing season and went 117-16 (.880) versus conference foes, including reeling off 36 consecutive conference victories from 2008-2011.
Husson reached the 20-victory plateau in six of Bourgoin’s seven years and posted 30 or more wins three times, including the 2012 team which posted a record 33 wins at the time of her induction.
The program’s first-ever national tournament win came during Bourgoin’s final season, a 1-0, eight-hit combined shutout victory by Kayla Merrill ‘16 and Amanda Ryan ‘14 over Bridgewater State University.
Bourgoin was the NAC’s and Husson University’s all-time winningest (188-108-1, .635) coach - at the time of her induction - and was named NAC coach of the year twice.
A native of Caledon, Ontario, Canada, Bourgoin and her husband, Kevin, reside in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada with their two sons, Brendan and James.
