Carolyn McAvoy '10 was a four-year letterwinner from 2004-2006 and 2008 as a shortstop and pitcher on the Husson softball team, while batting .373 (154-413) with 115 runs, 53 doubles, three triples, 11 home runs and 102 RBI's in 143 career games played for coach Charlie Hamel and hall of fame member Amanda Bourgoin.
The four-time All-North Atlantic Conference selection helped guide the Eagles to a NAC runner-up finish in their very first season as a member of the NAC and the National Collegiate Athletics Association as a freshman in 2004. She also helped the 2008 team earn a program record at the time 30-12 mark with a 17-3 record in conference play en route to the program's first-ever NAC regular-season title.
At the time of her induction, McAvoy ranked among the program's top-10 career leaders in doubles (first), extra-base hits (67, first), fielding chances (620, second), assists (300, second), walks (68, third), total bases (246, fifth), slugging percentage (.596, fifth), RBIs (sixth), home runs (tied for sixth), one-base percentage (.462, seventh), hits (eighth), batting average (ninth), at-bats (413, 10th) and runs scored (10th).
In nine career appearances in the circle, McAvoy earned five wins and posted a 3.27 earned run average in 55.2 innings, while tallying 27 strikeouts and limiting opponents to a .234 batting average. She tossed eight complete games in nine career starts.
She posted her strongest season in a Husson uniform in 2004, when she hit .500 (46-92) with 34 runs scored, 15 doubles, one triple, two home runs, 35 RBIs and eight stolen bases while posting a .750 slugging percentage and a .583 on-base percentage en route to earning NAC rookie of the year. She was also named to the NAC all-tournament team.
McAvoy was selected as a captain during her junior season in 2006.
McAvoy earned a bachelor of science in physical education from Husson in 2010.
A native of Brewer, Maine, McAvoy attended Brewer High School.
