Maine native Richard “Jay” Moore was an all-round athlete at Husson College during his four years. He played four seasons with the Men’s Basketball team.

During that time, he averaged almost 14 points per game and made half of the three-pointers he attempted. He also ranks fifth in single-season records for three-pointers made. Moore netted a total of 91 three-pointers in the 1986-87 season. The thousand-point shooter ranks 16th overall in Husson records for total points scored.

Moore’s senior year at Husson College, he expanded his horizons and played baseball. Moore ranks second in Husson’s single-season records for steals, averaging 3.2 in 1986-87. He played 21 games and hit a stellar .348 average. Moore drove in 12 runs that year and also hit a home run.

Jay Moore graduated from Husson College in 1987 with a Bachelor’s in Business Technical Education. Moore was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame in 1999 for Men’s Basketball, Men’s Golf and Baseball.
