Amanda Gifford Cummings was a three-sport athlete for the Eagles from 2009-2011 competing in women’s soccer, women’s basketball and softball during her three years at Husson.
A transfer from Bates College, Gifford excelled on the playing surface and in the classroom for the Eagles.
On the pitch, Gifford helped lead the Eagles to a 2009 North Atlantic Conference Championship under hall of fame coach Keith Bosley. On the hardwood, Gifford added two more NAC championships in 2010 and 2011 for hall of fame coach Kissy Walker and was a part of the 2012 NAC softball championship for hall of fame coach Amanda Bourgoin.
One of only a handful of athletes in department history to win a championship with three different teams, Gifford finished her soccer career with 13 goals and five assists to go along with four game-winning goals.
On the court, Gifford averaged 10.1 points per game, 3.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists while recording 202 steals in her career. At the time of her induction, Gifford ranked second all-time with a .810 free throw percentage, fourth in assists per game, sixth in steals per game with 2.4, eighth in career assists, 12th in steals and 13th with a career .337 3-point percentage.
In her one season on the diamond, Gifford batted .275 with 28 hits, 19 runs scored, six doubles, two triples, 18 RBIs and seven stolen bases.
Gifford was a two-time all-conference selection in 2010 and 2011, a United Soccer Coaches All-New England Region 1 Fourth Team honoree in 2011 and a USC All-East Scholar Athlete.
Additionally, Gifford is the only athlete in department history to earn the NCAA Women’s Enhancement Program Postgraduate Scholarship and was the 2011-12 Clara Swan Female Athlete of the Year recipient.
Gifford earned a Bachelor of Science in english from Husson in 2012 and a Master of Education in 2016.
A native of Lee, Maine, Gifford attended Lee Academy.
