Shawn Bolden '89 was a three-year member of the Husson University men’s basketball program from 1987-1989, playing for hall of fame member Bruce MacGregor after transferring from the University of Connecticut.

The senior captain helped guide the Braves to a 76-21 overall record with one Western Maine Athletic Conference Championship and one National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics District 5 title, including the program's first NAIA national tournament appearance in over seven years in 1989.

Bolden finished his career with 935 points, 788 rebounds, 105 steals and 110 assists while shooting 54.1 (393-726) percent from the floor and 65.1 (149-229) percent from the free throw line in 85 career games. The senior captain averaged 11.0 points, 9.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.2 steals per game in his career.

Upon graduation, the 1989 Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association All-State Second Team selection ranked among the program’s top-25 career leaders in points (24th), field goal percentage (seventh), rebounds (10th), rebounding average (10th), assists (14th), assists average (tied for seventh), steals (sixth), steals average (fifth), games played (tied for 22nd).

At the time of his induction, Bolden remained ranked among the program's top-25 career leaders in field goal percentage (12th), rebounds (12th), rebounding average (10th), steals (23rd) and steals average (19th).

Bolden was the fifth member of the 1989 men's basketball team - that was inducted into the hall of fame in 2014 as a team - to be inducted as an individual, joining MacGregor, assistant coach Warren Caruso '89, '08G, '18G, Mark Taylor '90, Buster Frederick '90, Kevin Hansley ‘90, Bobby Campbell '92 and Scott Nance '92.

Bolden earned a bachelor of science in business administration from Husson in 1989.

A native of South Windsor, Connecticut, Bolden attended South Windsor High School.
