Scott Nance '92 is viewed as one of the best passing and defensive point guards in program history, playing for hall of fame member Bruce MacGregor from 1989-1992.
He tallied 833 points with 302 rebounds, 543 assists, 209 steals and seven blocks, while shooting 45.6 percent (347-759) from the field, 28.2 percent (11-39) from behind the 3-point arc and 51.6 percent (128-248) from the free thrown line in 145 career games played.
At the end of his playing career, Nance was the Braves’ all-time career leader in games played and assists, and ranked second in steals, sixth in assists average (3.7), seventh in steals average (1.4), tied for seventh in 3-point field goals made (11), ninth in blocks, 15th in 3-point field goals attempted (39), 21st in free throws attempted (248). He also ranked in the top-50 in field goals attempted (759, 30th), field goals made (347, 34th), points (tied for 34th), free throws made (128, 45th), and rebounds (46th).
At the time of his induction, Nance remained the Eagles’ all-time career leader and single-season holder in games played.
During his stay, he helped lead Husson to a 110-35 (.759) mark, including a school-record 35 triumphs during his freshman campaign of 1988-1989, two Western Maine Athletic Conference and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics District 5 Championships in 1989 and 1990, and three NAIA national tournament berths in 1989, 1990, including an at-large bid in 1992.
The two-time captain steered the 1991-1992 squad to the program first national tournament victory, an 82-68 win over Philadelphia Pharmacy to advance to the Sweet 16 of the 1992 NAIA division II national championship tournament.
Nance was the sixth member of the 1989 Men’s Basketball Team - that was inducted into the hall of fame in 2014 as a team - joining head coach Bruce MacGregor, assistant coach Warren Caruso ‘89 ‘08G ‘18G, and teammates Mark Taylor ‘90, Buster Frederick ‘90, Shawn Bolden ‘89 and Bobby Campbell ‘92 as individual members of the Husson University Sports Hall of Fame.
Nance earned a bachelor of science in business administration from Husson in 1992.
A native of Trenton, N.J., Nance attended Ewing High School.
