Volleyball announces Griffin’s commitment to 2026 recruiting class

BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University women's volleyball program is pleased to announce the commitment of Kiara Griffin, a standout libero from Coastline Volleyball Club in Hubert, North Carolina.

A National Honor Society member and four-year letterwinner in volleyball at Dixon High School in Jacksonville, NC, Griffin competed in three sports, was a member of the school's marching band, all while participating in numerous student leadership activities, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, all while competing for Coastline Volleyball Club. At Dixon, Griffin earned NCHSAA Scholar Athlete recognition four times in two different sports.

An integral member of her Coastline team, Griffin, helped lead her team to a gold medal finish at the Carolina Regional tournament. Recognized by her club coach for her extraordinary work ethic, intensity and attitude, Griffin excelled for Coastline. While at Husson, Griffin plans to major in Wildlife Biology and Conservation.

Medley on Griffin:
"We are thrilled to welcome Kiara to Husson University and our volleyball program," said Head Women's Volleyball Coach Sue Medley. "She is a skilled volleyball player with a desire to grow, a positive leader and a person who excels in terms of work ethic and intensity. She will have an immediate impact on our program."

Griffin on choosing Husson:
"I played many different sports throughout my life, but volleyball became my passion," said Griffin. "Ever since I was young, I've watched videos of liberos diving into chairs, playing fearless and determined and wearing a different colored jersey. I knew that's what I wanted to do. Once I made my school team in middle school, everything became about volleyball and I found myself wanting to practice longer than normal practice times just so I could keep playing, even without AC in the gyms. I love all of it – conditioning to training – because it means I get to keep playing. Having to work through an injury at the beginning of my senior year was tough, but I knew I would come back stronger and I did. I love my school and club teams and even while those chapters are over – I always knew I would continue my volleyball journey and now I can't wait to add more chapters to my career at Husson!"

"I want to first give thanks to God because He got me to this point," concluded Griffin. "I am so thankful for this opportunity and for Coach Medley bringing me into this program for the next chapter of my life. I also thank my family and friends who have supported my journey since the beginning and my school and club programs because they made me into the player I am today."
