Box Score 2 DELHI, N.Y. - The Husson University women's volleyball team hit the road this weekend for some conference action playing two matches at the Floyd L Maines Arena against SUNY Canton and SUNY Delhi. The Eagles dropped both matches this afternoon to the Roos and Broncos, 3-1.
SUNY Canton 3, Husson University 1 (25-23, 22-25, 25-22, 25-14)
Despite strong defensive efforts, the Eagles were unable to hold off the Roos, dropping their first match of the day, 3-1.
Hanna Hembrow led the offensive charge for the Eagles during their first match, recording six kills and 19 of 24 team assists, while earning an impressive hitting percentage of .400. Showing their defensive strength as a unit, libero Adrienne Beatty supplied 14 digs with help from both Cat Torres and Amber Lemay each recording 10 additional digs, and senior captains Hembrow and Mary Grace Power each pitched in nine more apiece. Power also played in her 100th career match against the Roos as she became the 12th player in Husson volleyball history to reach this feat. As a team, Husson recorded 61 digs during four sets of action. Karimah Land stepped up her game on the net, stopping six total blocks while consistently jumping into action alongside Sophia Pagliarini.
Leading on offense for the Roos was Tatum Lafrance and Ashton Houppert. Houppert set up 22 assists towards 41 team kills, 11 of which were struck down by Lafrance. Defensively the Roos were led by Jenna Roat, who doled out a match-high 20 digs out of the team's total of 65.
SUNY Delhi 3, Husson University 1 (23-25, 25-16, 25-17, 25-21)
Offensive efforts were once again led by senior captain, Hanna Hembrow who set up 23 out of 30 team assists leading to 36 team kills. Nine of those kills were spiked by first year Eryka West. Grabbing a double-double her seventh double-double of the season, Hembrow dug 14 balls while libero Adrienne Beatty chipped in the same, making nearly half of Husson's total 65 digs.
Broncos' senior Erica Prindle pitched in on the offensive drive, setting up 34 assists towards an impressive 52 team kills. 17 kills were struck by first-year Lexi Taylor and 11 were from fellow classmate Chloe Elsenbeck. Feeling the pressure from the Eagles, the Broncos were forced to bring the heat on defense. As a team, SUNY Delhi gathered 79 digs as five players hit double-digits while three Broncos notched double-doubles. Taylor carved 22 of those digs herself and Witchney Clersainville had two solo blocks. Gathering four swift points, Marie Julian sent over four aces.
