BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University softball team has announced Jillian Severance as its first recruit from the class of 2026.

Severance joins Husson from Glenburn, Maine, where she attends Orono High School and has spent the last four years on the varsity softball team for the Red Riots.

In addition to playing for Orono as a pitcher, Severance has played club softball for the Brewer Outlaws, the Maine Adrenaline and she now currently plays for Sluggers Elite 18U.

Severance has been a two-time PVC All-Conference First Team selection, a one-time PVC All-Conference Second Team selection and a two-time Maine State All-Star Game selection.

Over her first three years with Orono, Severance has posted a .404 batting average at the plate, in addition to a .699 slugging percentage, while totaling a 2.03 earned run average in the circle with 504 strikeouts.

"I am very excited to continue my softball career with Husson," said Severance. "It is a dream to join such a successful program!"

In addition to her success on the softball field, Severance is also a member of the varsity field hockey team for Orono, where she has been a two-time PVC All-Conference Second Team selection and a Maine Field Hockey Association All-State Team member.

Outside of athletics, Severance is a member of National Honor Society, an honor roll student for all four years of high school, a Field Hockey PVC All-Academic selection and a Maine Field Hockey Association Academic All-State honoree.

"I would like to thank my coaches for the guidance they have provided over the years, my teammates for all the memories, and my family for all the love and support," said Severance.

While at Husson, Severance plans to study nursing.
