BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University softball team has announced the addition of Mariah Coon to its 2026 recruiting class.

Coon joins the Eagles from Levant, Maine, where she currently attends Hampden Academy.

A four-year varsity softball player for the Broncos, Coon has batted .394 for Hampden as an outfielder, while posting a .447 on-base percentage, a .423 slugging percentage and a .871 OPS, in addition to stealing 27 bases.

Coon has also played for various club teams in the area, including Outlaws 14u/16u, Sluggers/Outlaws 14u, Maine Adrenaline 16u and Sluggers Elite 18u, having won two club championships in her five years competing.

In addition to softball, Coon has also been a three-year member of the ice hockey team at Hampden, earning KVAC All-Conference second team honors last season, while also being a part of two Class A North Regional Runner-up finishes.

"I am so grateful to be able to continue my passion for the beautiful game of softball at Husson University," said Coon. "To have the opportunity to not only further my athletic career, but also pursue my academics at such an acclaimed university is one of my greatest accomplishments. I cannot wait to see how the program builds, breaks even more records, and flourishes in the years to come."

Off the field, Coon is a member of the National Honor Society, has been an honor roll member all four years, and has won an academic excellence award four years in a row, in addition to winning the Xerox award for innovation and information technology.

"From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank the numerous coaches and teammates who have helped me get here," said Coon. "I would like to especially thank Jarrod Williams, for his constant support and years he has spent dedicating his time to the development of softball in our area. Lastly, I would like to thank my dad, Jeff, for not only being my biggest supporter, but for believing in me and seeing the good even when I don't."

While at Husson, Coon plans to study psychology/clinical mental health counseling.
