Softball adds Verrill to 2026 recruiting class

BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University softball team has added Mikelle Verrill to its 2026 recruiting class.

Verrill comes to Husson from Carmel, Maine, where she has played varsity softball for the Hermon High School Hawks for the past three seasons.

Verrill is a left-handed pitcher, who has also played club softball for Hermon 12U and 14U, Adrenaline 16U and Slugger Elite Summer Softball 18U.

For Hermon High School, Verrill has won a Class B Regional Championship and finished as the Class B State Runner-Up, while also having finished as the Class B Regional Runner-Up two other times and having won an 18U FPN Lucky 7 championship in club softball.

At Hermon, Verrill has posted a .419 batting average at the plate, along with a .554 slugging percentage and a ..482 on base percentage. In the circle, Verrill totaled 79 strikeouts in 50 innings pitched, in addition to a 1.12 earned run average and a .90 WHIP.

"Softball has been my passion since I was little," said Verrill. "I have been coached by Rick Roberts and Jen Plourde since I was 8 years old. There have been some ups and downs, but getting through those is the person that gets better."

Off the field, Verrill has earned an academic excellence award and is top three in the JROTC.

"Thank you to my grandparents for getting me to the place that I needed," said Verrill. "Thank you to Jody Theberge, Rick Roberts, Jen Plourde, Stephanie Biberstein, Kyle Gallant, Todd Simcox, Dan Fowler and Jerrod Williams."

While at Husson, Verrill plans to study exercise science/doctor of physical therapy.
