BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University women's basketball team is adding another versatile piece to its 2026–27 roster with the commitment of Hailey Steinmetz, a sharp shooting guard from New Hampshire.
Steinmetz brings a strong all-around game to the Eagles, averaging 8.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 1.7 blocks per game this past season. Over her high school career, she's helped lead Pembroke Academy to multiple postseason runs, including a trip to the state championship her sophomore year.
"Hailey is a well-rounded, high-IQ guard with the size, strength and versatility to defend multiple positions and knock down shots from deep," said Isiah Anderson, Director of REPS Basketball. "More than her skill and experience against elite competition, what stands out most is her leadership, loyalty, and the way she elevates everyone around her."
Off the court, Steinmetz is equally impressive, serving in the Key Club and Spanish Honors Society, demonstrating the leadership and academic balance that align with Husson's values. She also plans to play lacrosse this spring.
Head women's basketball coach Kissy Walker expressed her enthusiasm for the newest addition to the Eagles' roster. "Hailey is known as a shooter but does a little bit of everything. She is very unselfish and has all the characteristics we are looking for in a player."
Hailey plans to study nursing while Husson.
