Eagles Drop Final Two Games of Spring Trip to Skidmore and Muskingum

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Husson University softball team drop their final two Rebel Spring Games on Saturday to Skidmore, 6-0 and Muskingum, 8-1.

Game 1: Skidmore 6, Husson 0

Skidmore (1-0) scored all their runs in the bottom of the 2nd on five hits and one Husson (2-10) miscue. A double by Jill Strileckis scored Kristina Foley with the first run of game giving the Thoroughbreds the 1-0 edge. A RBI single by Lila Rosenfeld and a three-run triple by Dani DeGregory before DeGregory scored on an error by the Eagles making the game, 6-0.

For the Eagles, a single to centerfield by Lyndsay Merrill in the sixth, a Sami Cyr single to left field in the fourth and an single by Nicole Andrade in the fifth accounted for all the Eagle hits in the setback. Alannah Healy (2-5) took the lost after allowing six runs (five earned) on 11 hits while walking one over 6.0 innings inside the circle.

For the Thoroughbreds, DeGregory was 3-for-4 with a run, a two-bagger, a three-bagger and three RBI while Casey Attonito and Emily Mangan each had two hits apiece. Amanda Carilli (1-0) went the distance inside the circle for the win allowing five hits, one walk and fanning five.

Game 2: Muskingum 8, Husson 1

Muskingum got the scoreboard first in the top of the third on a Jessica Matthews two-run homerun and extend the lead to three later in the inning on a RBI single through the left side by Dakota DeAmicis.

Trailing 3-0 in the bottom the third, the Eagles cut the Fighting Muskies lead to two when Merrill scored on a double to centerfield by Olivia Smith. However the Fight Muskies responded with five runs in the seventh inning making the game 8-1.

For the Eagles, Singles by Kristen Chipman, Merrill, Andrade and doubles by Smith and Kylie Kennedy accounted for all the Eagle hits in the setback. Healy took the lost after allowing eight runs (six earned) on 11 hits over 6.2 innings.

For the Fighting Muskies, Amy Clark was 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI and Melissa Maiorano went 3-for-4 with two runs while Matthews record two hits and two RBI in the victory. Rachel Eberling (2-1) picked up her second win on the season after yielding one earned run on five hits with two walks and five whiffs over 7.0 innings.

The Eagles return to the diamond for a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday, March 26 at Rhode Island College. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
