Husson announces Lang as 2025-26 Clara Swan Female Athlete of the Year

BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University Athletic Department has announced on Monday that softball junior Ana Lang has been selected as the school's annual Clara Swan Female Athlete of the Year winner.

Lang, along with Husson's Del Merrill Male Athlete of the Year award recipient, will be presented with their awards during Husson's Sports Hall of Fame Ceremony.

Lang put together one of the most dominant seasons in Husson softball history during the 2026 season, posting a staggering 0.94 ERA, which ranks second all-time for a single-season in program history, in 32 appearances, making 26 starts.

Lang set new single-season program marks for wins (23), saves (4) and strikeouts (267), while also leading Division III in strikeouts and ranking inside the top-5 for hits allowed per seven innings, strikeouts per seven innings, wins and WHIP.

The junior right-hander compiled a record of 23-5 on the season, while adding 20 complete games and eight shutouts, in addition to limiting batters to a .148 batting average against, as she now enters her senior season within reach of the career program records for wins, shutouts and strikeouts.

Lang posted 12 games of 10 or more strikeouts this season, including four games of at least 13 punchouts, which included a career-high 17 strikeouts in a win at SUNY Cobleskill on Apr. 25. Additionally, Lang fired two no-hitters on the year against the University of New England on Apr. 14 and versus Thomas College in the North Atlantic Conference title game on May 9.

The Searsport, Maine native became Husson's second-ever National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American selection, as she joined Kenzie Dore by earning a spot on the second team.

Additionally, Lang was selected as NAC Pitcher of the Year, while also earning NAC All-Conference First Team honors, NAC Tournament MVP, NAC All-Tournament Team, NFCA All-Region 1 First Team, All-Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference honors, Maine College Baseball and Softball Association Pitcher of the Year and MCBSA All-State First Team this year, while also earning five NAC and Maine College Baseball and Softball Association Pitcher of the Week awards and one Division III Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week selection.

Hailing from Searsport, Maine, Lang is a graduate of Searsport District High School.
