FARMINGTON, Maine – The Maine College Baseball and Softball Association has announced its postseason awards for softball and the Husson University softball team earned one major award and six all-state honors.
Junior Ana Lang further added to her historic year by claiming Pitcher of the Year honors, in addition to a spot on the all-state first team. Lang has also been named a National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American Second Team member, which was Husson's second-ever selection for softball, in addition to an NFCA All-Region 1 First Team selection, an All-ECAC team member, North Atlantic Conference Pitcher of the Year, a NAC All-Conference First Team member, the NAC Tournament MVP and a NAC All-Tournament Team selection this season.
Lang finished her third season as an Eagle with a 0.94 ERA, as she compiled a 23-5 record in the circle to go along with four saves. In 164 innings pitched, Lang recorded a nation-leading and a Husson single-season program record 267 strikeouts, while throwing 20 complete games and eight shutouts, in addition to limiting hitters to a .148 batting average against her.
Junior Camryn King also picked up a first team spot to go along with her NAC Player of the Year selection. King was also tabbed an NFCA All-Region 1 Second Team honoree, in addition to a NAC All-Conference First Team selection, an All-ECAC team member and a NAC All-Tournament team honoree. King led the Eagles with a .429 batting average, to go along with a .532 on-base percentage, a .706 slugging percentage and a 1.238 OPS. King also tallied four home runs, five triples and 13 doubles, while also adding 36 RBIs, 53 runs scored and a Husson single-season record 50 stolen bases in 53 attempts.
Senior Lydia Rice earned a first team all-state selection to add on to her NFCA All-Region 1 Second Team selection, NAC All-Conference First Team and NAC All-Tournament team honors. Rice totaled a .418 batting average, in addition to a .533 on-base percentage, a .791 slugging percentage and a 1.324 OPS, in addition to eight home runs, four triples and nine doubles, while also adding 31 RBIs.
Senior Morgan Tainter was named the final first team selection for the Eagles. Tainter was also named an NCAA Division III Bangor Regional All-Tournament Team selection, a NAC All-Conference First Team member and a NAC All-Tournament team honoree. Tainter registered a .380 batting average, in addition to a .406 on-base percentage, a .550 slugging percentage and a .956 OPS. Tainter recorded three home runs, one triple and 11 doubles, while also adding 48 RBIs in her final season as an Eagle.
Freshman Sophia Lynch was named an All-State Rookie team selection for Husson, as she has also been named NAC Rookie of the Year and a NAC All-Conference First Team selection this season. Lynch compiled a .386 batting average in her first year for the Eagles, in addition to a .480 on-base percentage, a .614 slugging percentage and a 1.094 OPS. Additionally, Lynch recorded four home runs and seven doubles, while also totaling 18 RBIs.
Freshman Jetta Shook picked up the other rookie team honor for Husson, as she added on to a NAC All-Conference Second Team selection this year. Shook totaled a .333 batting average for the year, while also adding a .389 on-base percentage, a .460 slugging percentage and a .849 OPS. Shook also recorded one home run, eight doubles and 19 RBIs in her freshman year as an Eagle.
