Box Score HENNIKER, NH- Husson University women's soccer shut down New England College 2-0 Saturday Afternoon, remaining undefeated in NAC play.
For much of the first half NEC hung even with Husson, both teams remaining scoreless until the 40th minute when Senior Emily Zurcher (Topsham, ME) put Husson ahead with a shot over the head of NEC goal keeper Tricia Sardagnola (Shrewsbury, MA).
First Year Hannah Clough (Mount Vernon, ME) put the Eagles up 2-0 when Sophomore Michaela Bicknell (West Addison, VT) redirected a rebounded shot her way. Clough was able to direct the ball in the lower left corner of the net past Sardagnola in the 64th minute.
Husson finished the match leading NEC 17-11 in shots and 5-2 in corner kicks. Sophomore goal keeper Jess Poulin (Albion, ME) stopped all 7 shots she faced, including two big shots in the final minutes of the game.
"When we passed and connected with each other today, we were really productive and dangerous. I am really proud that we got this win today, and that we've put ourselves in a really good position in the NAC," Said Coach Carly Gettler after the match.
With this win the Eagles improve to 5-9 overall and 5-0 in North Atlantic Conference play. Next up for Husson they will host MIT in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday (October 9) at Boucher Field at 4:00PM.
