BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University men's soccer team has announced the commitment of Santiago Jimenez of Pérez Zeledón, Costa Rica.
Jimenez joins the Eagles after competing for Municipal Pérez Zeledón of the Costa Rican First Division. A striker, he helped his team earn a second-place finish at the CODICAER Central America competition and reach the semifinals of the U19 UNAFUT tournament.
"I chose Husson University because I felt confident in my decision from the beginning," said Jimenez. "I saw that it offers a strong environment both academically and athletically, making it the right place for me to continue growing as a student and a soccer player. I am excited to start this new chapter and ready to give 100% both on the field and in the classroom. I look forward to working hard, improving every day, and making the most of this opportunity."
Jimenez also expressed his appreciation to those who have supported him throughout his soccer career.
"I would like to sincerely thank my family, especially my parents, for their unconditional support, love, and sacrifices throughout my soccer journey," he said. "Their encouragement and belief in me have meant everything, and I am truly grateful for all they have done to help me pursue my dreams. I am also thankful to God for His blessings and guidance along the way. Finally, I would like to thank Municipal Pérez Zeledón and all of my coaches for the support, opportunities, and valuable lessons they have given me over the past eight years. I will always be grateful for everything I have learned during this time."
