WATERVILLE, Maine – The North Atlantic Conference unveiled its major award winners for men's track & field on Wednesday and Husson University men's track & field senior Thomas Hinton was named senior scholar athlete.
Hinton recorded a runner-up finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the UMaine Spring Opener and added a fifth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles at the 2026 North Atlantic Conference Championship meet. In the classroom, Hinton has excelled academically while pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Medicine with a minor in Biology, compiling a 3.427 GPA. Hinton has also earned two honors recognitions, been named to the Dean's/President's List once, and received both the Eagle Award and Eager Eagle Award during his time at Husson.
Outside of competition and academics, Hinton has been actively involved on campus as a member of SAAC, Leadership Council, and the Pre-Med club. Hinton has also dedicated time to community service efforts through Warm the Children, Commit to Get Fit, and the Wash Foundation. Professionally, Thomas completed an internship at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, where he participated in a research project titled "Seed It or Leave It: A Look at Cell Seeding Effects on Tissue Engineered Vascular Grafts" at The Abigail Wexner Research Institute. Following graduation, Hinton will continue his education at Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College, pursuing a Master of Science in Healthcare Research.
Additionally for Husson, senior Trey Goodwin was selected to the Sportsmanship Team.
