INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NCAA announced its tournament field for the Division III Women's Lacrosse National Championship Tournament on Monday and the Husson University women's lacrosse team will take on No. 13 Gettysburg College in the first round.
The Eagles and the Bullets will battle on Saturday at 1 p.m. on the campus of No. 24 the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, who will battle the winner on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Eagles secured their second-straight North Atlantic Conference title on Saturday evening when they defeated Maine Maritime Academy by a final score of 12-9. Sophomore Kate Boehmcke was named most valuable player of the title game after recording four goals, one assist, seven draw controls, five ground balls and two caused turnovers.
The Bullets earned an at-large bid into the field after falling in the Centennial Conference (CC) semifinals on Friday at Franklin & Marshall. Gettysburg is one of 17 at-large teams in the field of 47 and is making its 24th NCAA tournament appearance.
This will be the first-ever matchup between Gettysburg and Husson and a potential round two bout between the Eagles and MIT would also be the first-ever between the two programs.
The Eagles are looking for their first-ever NCAA tournament win after falling to William Smith College in last year's opening round.
