CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Husson University women's lacrosse team saw its season come to an end on Saturday afternoon, falling to nationally-ranked No. 13 Gettysburg College, 26-4, in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament at Jack Barry Field on the campus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
The Eagles conclude the 2026 season with an 11-5 overall record after capturing the North Atlantic Conference championship and earning their second-straight NCAA Tournament berth.
Gettysburg (13-6) jumped out to an early lead, scoring 12 goals in the opening quarter behind a balanced offensive attack. The Bullets added six more goals in the second quarter to take an 18-1 advantage into halftime.
Husson (11-5) broke through in the second quarter when senior Gracie Gardner scored a man-up goal with 9:00 remaining in the half after Gettysburg was issued a yellow card.
The Eagles responded with their strongest stretch of the game in the third quarter, scoring three times. Senior Laela Martinez opened the quarter with an unassisted tally just 35 seconds into the period before sophomore Kate Boehmcke found the back of the net twice. Boehmcke's first goal came off an assist from senior Averi Baker with 7:16 remaining in the third, while freshman Emma Webster assisted on her second marker with 1:03 left in the quarter.
Boehmcke finished with two goals and a team-high nine draw controls, which allowed her to set a new single-season program record for draw controls, while Gardner and Martinez each added a goal. Baker and Webster each recorded an assist, as Baker set a new program record for points in a season.
Defensively, sophomore Reese Sullivan and Gardner each collected two ground balls, while Martinez caused a pair of turnovers. Freshman goalkeeper Salin Bachor made six saves in net for the Eagles.
