WATERVILLE, Maine – The North Atlantic Conference named its weekly award winners for track & field on Tuesday and Husson University men's track & field sophomore Matthew Scamman and freshman Gabriel Fairbrother were honored.
Scamman was named co-track athlete of the week following an event win on Saturday at the Black Bear Meet. Scamman won the 110-meter hurdles in 16.65 seconds to earn 10 points for the Eagles and he later returned in the 400 hurdles to place third in 1:04.47, adding six more points. Additionally, Scamman competed on Husson's 4x400 meter relay team that finished fourth with a time of 3:56.85.
Fairbrother picked up his second-straight rookie of the week selection after another strong week in the javelin throw. Fairbrother won the event with a personal-best throw of 49.65 meters, while also finishing as the best runner for the Eagles in the 100 meters, as he posted a time of 13.11. Fairbrother also competed with Scamman on the Husson 4x400 meter relay team.
The Eagles head to Standish next weekend as they compete in the Monks Invitational, hosted by Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Saturday.
