BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University women's soccer team has announced the commitment of Lauryn Smart to its 2026 recruiting class.

Smart joins Husson from Hampden Academy, where she played three seasons for the Broncos, after transferring from Penobscot Valley High School where she played two seasons.

Smart is a goalkeeper who has also played club soccer for River City for four seasons, while winning the Northern Maine Class D Championship with PVHS in 2022.

"I chose Husson University because of the close-knit community, the chance to further my sports career, the chance to be close to home as well, and the top-notch occupational therapy program Husson offers for students," said Smart.

Off the field, Smart was named an all-academic selection this past season with Hampden Academy.

"I would like to thank my mom and dad for supporting me in this journey," said Smart. "I would also love to thank my school team teammates from this past fall for being so supportive of me in everything, and I would also like to thank our assistant coach from this past fall for believing in me."

While at Husson, Smart plans to study psychology and occupational therapy.
