WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Husson University women's golf team opened play at the Trinity Bantams/Hartford Hawks Spring Invitational on Saturday at Rockledge Golf Club.
After the first round of competition, Husson sits tied for fourth overall with a team score of 368, matching Suffolk University and remaining within striking distance of the top three teams heading into Sunday's final round.
The Eagles were led by freshman Abigail Theriault, who posted an 18-over par round to finish tied for 14th overall and pace the Husson lineup. Senior Caitlyn Chabot followed closely behind, carding a 19-over round to sit tied for 17th, while senior Allie Weinert added a 20-over performance to place tied for 21st.
Freshman Caroline Chausse finished tied for 25th with a 23-over round, and freshman Riley Fyfe rounded out the Eagles competitors with a 35-over score.
At the top of the leaderboard, CC Kaplan of Trinity College leads the field after shooting 1-under par, helping Trinity to the team lead at 330. Bentley University (337) and University of Hartford (351) round out the top three.
The Eagles will return to the course on Sunday for the second and final round of the Trinity Bantams/Hartford Hawks Spring Invitational.
