PORTLAND, Maine — The Husson University women's golf team opened its fall season with a pair of top-five finishes at the 2026 Southern Maine Cup on Saturday at Riverside Golf Course.
The event featured a two-player pairing format on the par-72 course, with Husson sophomores Abigail Theriault and Caroline Chausse leading the Eagles with a runner-up finish. The duo combined to shoot a 10-over-par 82, tying the University of Southern Maine pairing of Remy Levin and Belle Steeves for second place.
Theriault and Chausse finished just five strokes behind the University of New England pairing of Abby Flanagan and Amanda Forziati, which captured the event title with a 5-over-par 77.
Husson's second pairing of freshman Alison Mitchell and sophomore Riley Fyfe also earned a top-five finish, combining for a 14-over-par 86 to finish tied for fifth. Mitchell and Fyfe shared fifth place with Saint Joseph's College of Maine's Reese Beaudoin and Dakota Morgan.
The Eagles return to the course on Wednesday when they head to Standish for the John Queenan Memorial Invitational, hosted by Saint Joseph's College of Maine.
