BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University women's golf team named its next recruit in its 2026 class, as Alison Mitchell will join the Eagles this fall.
Mitchell comes to Husson from Phippsburg, Maine, where she attended Morse High School and played varsity golf during her senior year.
Mitchell additionally was a member of the Morse varsity softball team, while earning the coaches award for the varsity golf team.
On the course, Mitchell placed fifth in the girls Class B Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference and won eight out of the 10 matches she competed in during the regular season.
"Thank you to my mom, grandparents, and Coach Ben for believing in me," said Mitchell. "I wouldn't have gotten here without you all. My grandfather taught me to golf, my mom has always been there for me and pushes me to do better. Under Ben, my coach, I learned so much including belief in myself."
Off the course, Mitchell is the chapter president of the Morse Best Buddies program, a member of the Special Olympics of Maine Youth Activation Committee, the National Technical Honor Society, in addition to taking part in the Special Olympics of North America State of Maine Representative at Capitol Hill Day 2026 in Washington D.C.
Mitchell also was named the City Of Bath Community Youth Award winner and the Student of the Year for Bath Technical Regional Center, in addition to being an honor roll student all four years at Morse.
While at Husson, Mitchell plans to study psychology.
