Men’s track & field takes part in Maine State Indoor Championships

LEWISTON, Maine – The Husson University men's track & field team competed at the Maine State Indoor Championships on Saturday at Bates College's Merrill Gymnasium.

In the hurdles, sophomore Matthew Scamman competed in the 60 hurdles, advancing to the finals and finishing eighth overall, after delivering a provisional qualifying time for the New England Division III Championships in the prelims.

The Eagles were also represented in the relays, highlighted by the men's 4x800 relay team of freshman Oden Schlager, junior Thomas Hinton, Cromwell and junior Micah Bryan, which finished sixth in 9:52.06 to score team points.

In the field events, sophomore Ian Cottrell delivered a personal-best in the pole vault, clearing 3.10 meters. In the long jump, junior Mykal Roberson led Husson in the long jump with a personal-best mark of 5.68 meters.

Freshman Gabriel Fairbrother added a 10.39-meter performance in the shot put, which cleared his personal-best distance, while senior Jaden Grazulis also added a personal-best in the weight throw with a distance of 12.89 meters for the Eagles.

Husson will be back in action on Feb. 21 at the Mules Tune-Up, hosted by Colby College.
