CASCO, Maine – The Husson University women's golf team began its season on Wednesday at the John Queenan Memorial Invitational at the Point Sebago Golf Course hosted by Saint Joseph's College of Maine.
The Eagles took home a third-place finish as a team, racking up a team score of 288, while Southern Maine Community College won the event with a score of 269.
Senior Caitlyn Chabot was the top individual finisher for Husson, recording a 17-over par, 89, to secure a tie for third-place in the event, while freshman Abigail Theriault placed 10th in her collegiate debut with a 27-over par, 99.
Senior Allie Weinert wasn't far behind with a 28-over par, 100, to finish tied for 11th and round out the scoring players for Husson.
Freshmen Riley Fyfe and Caroline Chausse concluded their rounds tied for 16th with 42-over par, 114s.
Grace Thompson of SMCC won the individual title with a seven-over par, 79 for the round.
Husson returns to the course on Sept. 13 when it hosts the Husson Invitational at Bangor Municipal Golf Course.
