WATERVILLE, Maine – The North Atlantic Conference announced its weekly award winners for women's basketball on Monday and Husson University women's basketball sophomore Saige Evans and freshman Sophia Carnes took home honors.
Evans was named player of the week after scoring 19 points for the Eagles in their season-opening win over Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Saturday. Evans scored seven of her game-high 19 points in the fourth quarter, in addition to grabbing 10 rebounds and four steals, while also shooting 7-13 from the floor and 5-6 from the foul line.
Carnes was crowned rookie of the week after providing a spark off the bench for Husson in the victory over Saint Joseph's. Carnes tallied 11 points, including three made three-pointers, in addition to six assists in 26 minutes of action.
The Eagles return to the court tomorrow when they host RV/No. 12 Bates College at 5:30 p.m.
