LEXINGTON, Mass. – The Husson University women's basketball team delivered a dominant wire-to-wire performance on Saturday afternoon, powering past Lesley University, 87–59, in North Atlantic Conference play at Minuteman High School.
Husson (3-1, 2-0 NAC) set the tone early with a 10–4 run sparked by strong defensive pressure and efficient scoring inside. Sophomore Saige Evans took over immediately, pouring in 13 first-quarter points while attacking the rim in transition and off the offensive glass. Sophomore Lilly Roy added steady scoring of her own, knocking down early free throws and a jumper to build the Eagles' initial cushion. By the end of the first quarter, Husson led 23–14 after shooting 8-for-15 from the floor while generating six steals.
The Eagles continued to pull away in the second quarter, outscoring Lesley (2-5, 1-2 NAC) 29–11 as their depth and ball movement took control. Roy caught fire from the perimeter, hitting two threes during a stretch that saw her score 12 points in the period. Evans remained unstoppable inside, adding another 12 first-half points on 10-for-13 shooting before the break. Husson's defensive pressure—highlighted by steals from Roy, freshman Abby Radel and seniors Danielle Dow, and Laela Martinez—allowed the Eagles to consistently push the tempo and convert transition opportunities. By halftime, Husson had built a commanding 52–25 advantage.
The third quarter brought more of the same as Husson extended its lead to as many as 31. Evans continued her inside dominance while Radel provided a spark with six points and four rebounds in the period. Husson's frontcourt controlled the boards, and the defense held Lesley to 33 percent shooting as the Eagles carried a 66–40 lead into the fourth.
Husson closed the game with a strong final quarter, highlighted by a burst from freshman Sophia Carnes, who scored all eight of her points in the fourth, including two threes and a transition bucket. Evans capped off her standout afternoon with 33 points, including 25 in the opening half, and eight rebounds, finishing 14-for-20 from the field in just 29 minutes of play. Roy delivered 20 points on an efficient 6-for-10 shooting performance while adding two threes and six made free throws. Sophomore Sam Haber chipped in 10 points and two steals, and Radel totaled nine points and seven rebounds.
The Eagles were exceptional in all phases—finishing with 24 assists, 12 steals, and a 47–33 rebounding advantage. Husson also went 14-for-17 from the free-throw line and produced 23 points off turnovers, 12 second-chance points, and 25 points from the bench.
Husson returns to action after Thanksgiving when it hosts the University of Maine at Fort Kent on Dec. 2 at 6 p.m.
