Men's track & field personal-best and school records fall in spring break finale at Lane Community College Open

EUGENE, Ore. - The Husson University men's track & field team closed out their spring break by competing in the Lane Community College Open on Saturday afternoon.

In the 100-meters, sophomore Dillon Haughton clocked in with a personal-best time of 12.22.

Sophomore Trey Goodwin and freshman Brian Vale ran 25.79 and 26.03 in the 200-meter race. Vale then followed up his performance in the 200-meter race by nearly missing his personal-best time by .04 in the 400-meter run with a time of 55.95.

Freshman Thomas Hinton ran a personal-best time in the 1500-meter run by finishing the race with a 5:19.86 while junior David Hileman finished with a time of 16.14.64 in the 5000-meter run which was good enough for an 11th-place finish.

The Eagles had two members of their squad compete in the 3000-meter steeplechase, graduate student Austin O'Neal and junior Jeremy Stone. O'Neal finished the race in eighth-place after clocking in with a new school-record time of 10:48.35 and Stone took 11th with an 11:13.66.

Haughton and sophomore Avery Gagnon were the only two jumpers for the Eagles in the long jump and the triple jump. Haughton jumped a personal-best 5.70 meters and Gagnon recorded a jump of 5.37 meters in the long jump. In the triple jump, Haughton had another personal-best jump of 10.90 meters while Gagnon jumped 10.88 meters.

In the shot put, sophomore Max MacCallum threw a personal-best distance of 10.96 meters and sophomore Jaden Grazulis recorded a throw of 9.75 meters.

Grazulis and Goodwin each recorded distances of 27.63 meters and 21.89 meters in the discus throw before Grazulis and MacCallum posted throws of 24.43 meters and 23.21 meters in the hammer.

Goodwin, Gagnon, Grazulis, Stone and MacCallum all competed in the javelin for the Eagles, finishing with throws of 37.37 meters, 33.54 meters, 32.72 meters, 32.00 meters and 25.10 meters respectively. Gagnon, Stone and MacCallum all recorded personal-best throws in the javelin.

Husson returns to action on Saturday, April 6th when they compete in the Springfield College Classic.
