BRUNSWICK, Maine — The Husson University men's indoor track & field team began its 2024-25 season at the UBears Alumni Invite hosted by Bowdoin College on Saturday.
The Eagles started on the season strong as sophomore's
Adam Allen,
Carmy Kaniki and
Dillon Haughton all set personal-best times in the 60-meter dash with times of 7.26, 7.30 and 7.43, respectively.
Kaniki also posted a PR in the 200-meters with a mark of 24.03, while freshman
Matthew Scamman posted a 24.24.
Senior
Richard Cromwell finished second in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:34.02 and Scamman and sophomore
Mykal Roberson finished fifth and sixth, respectively in the 60-meter hurdles.
The Eagles 4x800-meter relay team of sophomore Micah Byran, seniors
Jeremy Stone and
David Hileman along with Cromwell posted a winning time of 9:13.72.
Roberson cleared 1.81, setting a personal-best mark and finish second in the event, while freshman
Ian Cottrell cleared 2.60 meters in the pole vault to finish second and sophomore
Thomas Hinton finished third with a height of 2.30 meters.
Scamman added to his impressive season-opening meet with a third-place performance in the long jump with a distance of 6.41 meters, while Kaniki and Allen finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Kaniki posted a PR distance of 6.15 meters.
Roberson and freshman
Cohen Parker finished fourth and fifth in the triple jump, Roberson posted his third PR of the meet with a mark of 11.91 meters, while Parker jumped 11.85 meters.
In the shot put, junior's
Max MacCallum and
Jaden Grazulis finished third and fourth, respectively with throw of 11.46 and 10.84 meters. Grazulis also finished third in the weight throw with a mark of 11.40, while MacCallum posted a 9.95-meter throw to finish sixth.
Next up for the Eagles is back-to-back days at the University of Maine on Dec. 13 and Dec. 14.
