STANDISH, Maine — The Husson University men's track & field team finished fifth out of 17 programs at the Monks Invitational hosted by Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Saturday.
Sophomore
Conner DeCourt began the Eagles scoring in impressive fashion on Saturday winning the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.31, while freshman
Jacob Ramos finished sixth in the event with a mark of 53.07.
Sixth-year
Zach Hartman finished runner up in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:17.77, while senior
Phil Feeney finished third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 17.88 and sophomore
Christian Zapata recorded a fourth-place finish with an 18.52.
Feeney also posted a second-place performance in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.06, just missing a personal-best mark of 1:00.52 set last Spring. Senior
Josh Hart also scored for the Eagles in the event finishing fourth with a time of 1:02.01.
Sophomore
Jeremy Stone recorded a fourth-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:12.77, while senior
Austin O'Neal finished seventh in the event with an 11:45.24.
The Eagles 4x100-meter relay team of DeCourt, freshman
Avery Gagnon, Hart and Zapata finished sixth with a time of 46.52, while DeCourt, Ramos, sophomore
Richard Cromwell and Feeney finished second in the 4x400-meter relay with a mark of 3:38.31.
Zapata also finished tied for third in the high jump, clearing 1.85 meters, breaking a personal-best mark of 1.80 meters set last Spring.
Hart further added to his impressive day in the pole vault, clearing 3.70 meters to finish tied for third place, while Gagnon finished fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 11.87 meters.
In the Eagles final scoring event of the meet, freshman
Trey Goodwin finished fourth in the javelin with a throw of 42.11 meters.
Husson now turns its attention to the State of Maine Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday hosted by Saint Joseph's in Standish.
