JACKSONVILLE, N.C. – The Husson University men's golf team finds itself in 14th place Saturday after completing the second round of the 50th edition of the Marine Corps Intercollegiate Championship hosted at Camp Lejeune.
On day two, Husson was led by senior
Max Woodman's 4-over-par 76 on the par-72, 6,851-yard Gold Course at Paradise Point Golf Course. Woodman and junior
Will Kavanaugh are tied for 52nd with a two-day score of 157. Kavanaugh carded a 10-over 82 on the day. They are currently 19 strokes off the lead held by No. 2 Christopher Newport University's Alex Price entering the final round of the 54-hole tournament.
The Eagles also got an 8-over 80 from junior
Jack King, who is in a tie for 58th place with a two-day total of 158. Junior
Chris Kauppila and senior
Cade Charron both shot 12-over 86's on day two. Kaupplia is tied for 72nd with a score of 162, while Charron sits in a three-way tie for 78th with a 164.
As a team, Husson shot a collective 36-over 324 on Day 2 to put the Eagles in 15th place with a two-day team score of 631. Christopher Newport leads the 20-team tournament with a 3-over 579, one stroke ahead of No. 6 Guilford College. The tournament features seven nationally ranked teams and another that is receiving votes in the Bushnell/Golfweek Division III Coaches Poll.
