Box Score BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University softball team are champions of the North Atlantic Conference for the fourth consecutive season and 11th overall after a 4-1 victory over the Terriers of Thomas College on Sunday afternoon at O'Keefe Field.
The Terries (19-17) took the lead in the first inning but the Eagles responded with a four run fourth inning for the come from behind victory. Freshman Julia Gregoire started the inning with a base hit then scored on a bunt by sophomore Teagan Blackie to tie the score. Blackie, who was safe on the bunt, scored on a base hit up the middle via freshman Kiara McLeod to give the Eagles the lead. With runners on the corners, senior Katie Windsor laid down the perfect bunt to score senior Madelyn Fowler then McLeod scored when sophomore Kenzie Dore flew out to center field.
Four runs was all the NAC softball tournament MVP, McKenna Smith, needed as she struck out 13 batters and allowed three hits.
For their effors, Dore, Blackie, Smith and senior Meagan Gosselin, earned spots on the NAC All-Tournament Team.
The softball team will celebrate the night away then find out their fate in the 2022 NCAA Division III softball tournament tomorrow as the selection show is at 1:00 p.m.
