Box Score 2 BRUNSWICK, Maine — The Husson University softball team split a pair of non-conference road games against Bowdoin College on the road Sunday afternoon winning game one 3-2 before falling 4-2 in the finale.
Husson (22-7) gained a 1-0 advantage thanks to sophomore Teagan Blackie's sacrifice flyout in the second inning before adding a run in the third inning off an RBI single by senior Megan Gosselin.
The Eagles tallied the eventual winning run on an infield single by senior Whitney Bess in the fourth before Bowdoin (14-16) got on the board in the bottom half of the inning to cut the deficit to 3-1.
Bowdoin tallied another run on a solo home run in the sixth, but it was too late as junior McKenna Smith continued her dominating spring striking out 13 over seven innings allowing just six hits and two runs.
The Polar Bears struck first in game two, adding three runs in the first inning to take a 3-0 advantage.
Bowdoin added an insurance run in the second inning to pull ahead 4-1 before Husson tallied a run in the fourth inning and another on an RBI double by freshman Brianne McCabe, but the damage had been done early as the Polar Bears held on for the 4-2 decision.
Bess and freshman Tori Exel finished with two hits apiece for the Eagles while freshman Tatyanna Biamby pitched well in relief striking out three over three innings of work and allowing three hits.
Husson closes out its 2022 regular season on the road Saturday against the University of Maine-Presque Isle beginning with its remaining North Atlantic Conference game at 1 p.m. followed by a non-conference game at 3 p.m.
