Box Score BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University women's lacrosse team lost a North Atlantic Conference contest to Cazenovia College 15-11 at Boucher Field on Saturday afternoon.
The first half of the contest was a back-and-forth one that saw neither team lead by more than one goal during the frame. The Eagles (0-9,0-5 NAC) had five different players score goals during the first 30 minutes of play. Freshman Maddy Benoit tallied her 9th and 10th goals of the season in the half, while fellow freshman Natalie Whitten and Emma Romatzick tallied one goal each. Juniors Devyn Veits and Sophia Gomez each contributed one for the Eagles as well to allow them to take a 6-5 lead into the halftime break.
After the Wildcats (6-5, 4-1 NAC) tied the game up just 16 seconds into the second half, Husson was able to take its largest lead of the game on an own goal by Cazenovia and another goal by Gomez. The Wildcats tallied six straight goals to take control of the game. Benoit added two more goals for the Eagles in a comeback attempt, while Gomez scored one of her own but the damage had already been done for Husson.
In net for the Eagles, freshman Emily Godfrey made seven saves on 32 shots faced.
The women's lacrosse team will close out the regular season tomorrow when they host SUNY Poly at Boucher Field with the opening draw control set for noon. The team will honor their lone senior Marissa Adams prior to the contest.
