First-year Maddy Benoit pushed the Eagle lead to a two goals when she fired a free position shot into the back of the Mariners' net one minute and five seconds into the second period. Labbe cut the Husson deficit down to one with a strike at the 12:26 mark but a late goal by Gomez in the final seconds of the first half provided the host with a 6-4 margin going into intermission.

Out of the break, the Mariners took their first lead since the opening minutes of the game with three-goal run spanning over the first two minutes of the third to stake a 7-6 advantage with 13:42 remaining in the period. Harriman scored the tying (9-9) goal in the early minutes of the fourth before Benoit once again untied it with an unassisted strike 13 seconds later.
