Box Score 2 PLYMOUTH, N.H. — The Husson University softball team made it eight-consecutive wins on Tuesday, rolling past Plymouth State University 11-1 in game one and 8-2 in game two on the road in non-conference action.
Husson (16-6) struck first in game one and didn't look back as senior Madelyn Fowler sent her first home run of the season over the left field fence for the early 2-0 advantage.
Sophomore Kenzie Dore tripled in the Husson's third run before the Eagles took advantage of several Plymouth State (7-14) errors and a walk to extend the advantage to 8-0 heading into the fourth.
The Panthers managed to put up a run in the bottom of the fourth, but Husson answered with three runs in the fifth inning to pick up the 11-1 run rule, as junior McKenna Smith continued her dominating season in the circle picking up the win.
Smith finished the afternoon striking out 11 of 20 batters faced for her sixth double-digit strikeout performance on the year while allowing just four hits.
Fowler finished game one 3-3 from the plate with two RBI's and three runs scored, while Dore collected a 2-3 performance with three runs batted in and two runs.
In game two, junior Jill Bisson got the start for the Eagles, pitching three scoreless innings, allowing just four hits before being lifted with a 6-0 Husson advantage.
The Eagles wasted no time getting on the board in game two, continuing their recent offensive hot streak with a run in the first followed by three more in the second and two in the third.
Freshman Mackenzie Wendelken struck for the first Eagle run, doubling to right center to score senior Whitney Bess.
Senior Katie Windsor plated the second Husson run on an RBI single up the middle and sophomore Olivia McCarty scored on a wild pitch for the 3-0 edge.
Wendelken added her second RBI of the inning following a bases loaded walk to give Husson an early 4-0 lead.
McCarty got in on the RBI action in the third for the Eagles fifth run before junior Katie Raymond tripled to right field to give Husson a commanding 6-0 advantage.
The Eagles added insurance runs in the fourth and sixth inning as freshman Kiara McLeod singled in the sixth to score Fowler to put Husson up 8-0.
Plymouth State got on the board with two runs in the bottom half of the sixth inning, but graduate student Jen Jones got the final three outs in the seventh to pick up the 8-2 victory.
Jones pitched four innings in relief striking out eight batters and allowing just one hit earning the decision.
Bess finished 2-5 at the dish while reigning North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Week, McLeod continued her hot streak with a 1-3 afternoon, scoring two runs, adding two RBI's and stealing a base.
The Eagles return to action on Saturday as they return to conference play on the road at University of Maine at Farmington for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
